Hello! Project Linus is a national organization providing security blankets to seriously ill and traumatized children. It was founded in 1995 by one person, Karen Loucks of Denver, Colorado. Now there are chapters all over the United States. It's a perfect example of the saying "one person can really make a difference". To read more about the national Project Linus charity organization, go to ProjectLinus.org. If you have a friend that crochets, knits, or makes quilts, please send them to the National Organization's website so they can find out about us. It's fun to help others!

Project Linus Mission Statement PROJECT LINUS is a 100% volunteer non profit organization. It is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of NEW, HOMEMADE, WASHABLE, 100% COTTON blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer blanketeers. |

History of our North Idaho Chapter The first delivery from our chapter of 15 blankets was made in April 2000. 15,338 blankets have been distributed to-date (end of 2nd quarter 2007). We deliver between 600 to 800 blankets each month. Our chapter is growing all the time. This amount may sound like a lot, but the demand is far greater than this each month so we are always looking for more blanketeers to help us. Currently we have 96 volunteers with 42 of them working monthly to meet our mission goals. Our volunteers are from Missoula, Montana; through North Idaho to Spokane, Washington and over to Wenatchee and Leavenworth, Washington. We also have volunteers from Lewiston, WA to the Canadian border; Sitka, Alaska and Anchorage, Alaska. We are blessed to have the Central Idaho Quilters from Kamiah, Idaho helping us with top notch quilters, knitters, and Lap Quilters who work on every mission for Project Linus along with their own projects. It was a day like rain down from Heaven when they joined to help us. They alone are 80 strong so we are 80 more volunteers plus the 96 already introduced. 9-11 Call from Project Linus Headquarters When 9-11 happened, all of the Chapters of Project Linus nationally pulled together and sent blankets to NYC and The Pentagon in DC. This Chapter divided out donation with half going to the Fire Departments in NYC and the remaining to The Pentagon.

From the national organization's homepage As of June 2007, Project Linus has delivered over 2,210,100 security blankets to children around the country and has over 406 chapters in the United States. Although Project Linus originally donated blankets to pediatric cancer patients, recipients now include any child who is seriously ill or traumatized in some way - in other words "children in need of a big hug." |
